about

Friends,

If I start at the beginning, I don't know that it'll make sense from there. This whole project might need a lens more fixed in the viewfinder concrete of now, rather than then.
11 albums, one still clinging to the side of the oven, is just a fact I think we have to accept now, I think I've said what I can about why or how this came about. This 11th album is a microcosm of this entire process, so I'll just tell you what you've got in your hands there, your most recent Bandcamp acquisition.
Peter Woods, Kurt Nielsen, and I got together at Bloor Street United church with my mixer and a couple microphones, using the church's printer and a couple sharpies for charts, and made something really, really special.
This will be released more officially down the line under Peter's name, but I wanted you, my incredibly generous and supportive friends and family, to have this as my 11th offering in your online collection. I know you're going to love it- I don't know if I've loved a personal project of mine own more.
To take just a quick step back- Peter Woods is a dear friend, a confidant, a mentor, a custodian with a ring of keys to the theological dancehall where spirit and music frequently pull all nighters.
Kurt Nielsen is a source of grounding calm, an advisor to the more scattered musical minds among us, and a pure lyricist on the upright bass. Peter and Kurt both have these perfectly distinguishable and personally honed tones, crafstmen over the open flames of their music. I connected them as soon as I heard Peter was coming to town, and we laid plans to gather. Peter brought a much more literal ring of keys, being a United church minister back home in Ottawa, and got us making music in short order inside the beautiful space of Bloor Street United.
I'll be in touch with all of you about the official release of this album, but take it for now, let the love of music in, and hear our gratitude.
